I had a lifter go bad in my 98 Evo engine....just the front cylinder Exhaust.
I replaced the lifter and verified the adj pushrod was not bent and re-stabbed it.
now the pushrod seems to lean way to close to the wall going up to the rocker? the intake pushrod is still perfectly centered.
you can feel the clanking when u grab the pushrod cover. I have not revved the engine passed idle due to this issue so do not know if it lacks power or backfires, etc from this cylinder (as it did when the lifter cracked)
What should I be testing or looking for?
the angle of the pushrod leans towards the engine vs in center or away from engine. it seems centered fron to back just not side to side. I did use alignment tool for the lifter housing.
Drill out the top 1" or so of the PR tube to 5/8" for more clearance.
Try adjusting the PR 1/2 turn in or out... some are not concentric and will be at a slight angle when tightened. Sometimes that half turn makes them straight again.

I have the top rocker cover off..so I see it in the cup. And I spin the pushrod and no extra movement.
Everything was running great and no noises until the lifter cracked.

Your pushrod was fine...... the lifter "went bad" ... and now that pushrod has issues? ...... I'd vote it's the pushrod....
Of course, it's possible the rocker arm could have been damaged (bent, tweaked) when the lifter "went bad". Not sure what you mean by "went bad". Your new issue sure seems like it's got to be related to the lifter failure..
That leaves cam (least likely), pushrod (most likely), or rocker arm (possible).....
I just played with it again..clearenced the tube a little as the pushrod was hitting part of it due to the angle the rod is in the tube.
I can still here tapping in the top end if I push on the pushrod cover to keep the fat part of the adj pushrod.
So I guess I will replace the rocker first...when i'm looking at the way the rocker hits the top of valve looks a little different than the intake side as far as how flat it is on it...
who knows just easter egging at this point.
When I revved it up it did not sound to bad just hearing tapping noise.
