Default CB Not working problem

So my cb on my 08 ultra, does not receive or transmit. The cb icon comes on in dash, the volume is up, you can put it on any channel and turn off squelch and get noise, push the ppt button and the icon comes on in dash. The vox/intercom is working in headsets and in speakers. Doesn't matter where you set speaker switch. I have checked antenna cable, I have used the long and short antenna. Both were attached to the right cb side of tour pak.
The only thing I haven't tried is switching out the cb unit.
Any thoughts?

Have you checked (with a decent meter) the grounding on the antenna? From the antenna base mount to the coax connector, then from the connector to bikes grounding point. Little or no resistance is what you want.

So did some more testing tonight with another bike, seems like I'm transmitting at times, but can only receive with squelch turned off but the sound is very broken and you can make out what is said.

Default Update

So replaced cb module, and all is working. Bought a used module online and that did the trick.

You could have a bad connection or ground in your power system somewhere that is creating a substantial level of RF noise which can cause receiver problems, but not usually transmission issues. Like back when copper ignition wires and bad points would wipe out the reception on your old AM car radio.

Your antenna or coax may have a problem and which may have already damaged your receiver and transmitter. The wrong or shorted antenna or coax cable will blow the final transmitter section very fast, and the wrong antenna or an open coax can reflect high level RF back into the receiver and damage the transmitter/receiver bidirectional switch which will damage the receiver front end causing problems like you are describing. I would not transmit anymore until you put a SWR meter on the antenna. If you do not have one, you need to get one or find someone who has one and knows how to use it.

He replaced it two years ago and that solved the problem.

Thank you Skinman13. I will check with my Harley friends for someone with a meter.
