2003 Road King Handle Bar Cover

2003 Road King Handle Bar Cover
I just put 1.25 Wild Ones on my 2003 Road King and now the handle bar cover will not sit down on the nacelle. I figured this was going to happen. I have heard the later model Road King handle bar covers have been clearance for this issue. Can anyone confirm or deny this and if they do will they fit the 2003? -Tony

I would be curious what bars (model #) in particular you are talking about. I have been through a few sets of Wild 1 bars on Road King as well as other Harley bikes and never had an issue. The King is an 01 and currently have a set of 515 bars on an 08 Road Glide. The only mistake I ever encountered was not getting the one piece top clamp, but learned pretty quickly of the oversight and rectified the issue. Perhaps pictures would help?

I've never heard of 1 1/4 bars hitting that cover before. But if they are, it can't be by much. A small dremel should quickly relieve the opening. And a couple coats of clear nail polish should protect the ground surface from rust for many years.

This is the third time I've had it happen on earlier bikes. I'm sure there is operator error involved. Have attached a couple of pics.
