Default Best place in Chicagoland area to purchase a 2017 RGS ?

I visited an HD dealer located in the suburbs of Chicago in Lake county area; I do not want to name the dealer for now. Last Sunday i went to pick up a buddy of mine to go riding so he had his bike being serviced at this dealership.

Upon walking in a seller came up to me saying that they had specials going on and they are offering full retail value for a trade for a newer bike. So basically, full retail trade value for full MSRP of the new bike. Looking to purchase a 2017 Road Glide Special, which is listed at $23,999. So I figured why not get a trade value for my bike? They offered me $19,475 for my trade, which isn't bad. Trading in my 2015 RGS that only has 2600 miles on it. I informed the seller that I would accept the trade value offer but that I don't want to pay full MSRP for the newer bike since most of the time I get a discount for working in public safety/military. They only offered me $500 off the MSRP plus the removal of all the aftermarket parts that I have installed on my RGS and swapping out my handlebars, mirrors, levers and full custom audio system by biketronics to the new bike...

Also, HD Website states $435 freight but the stealership is asking $1236 So why the significant price change?

Thoughts or recommendations? Thanks brothers & sisters~

so, they offered a $4500 difference to trade a 2 yr old motorcycle in on a new one.
...... plus they're gonna take all your accessories off the old bike & reinstall'm on the new one
...... then they take off another $500, which drops the overcharge on freight to $300+/-
.......... sounds like a deal to me ........ am i missing something ?

Yes it is a deal, however. Who actually wins in any sales, especially with a Harely dealership? If one could save a few bucks, why not?

it sounds like a great deal especially since you are not factoring in labor for swapping parts between bikes, which is worth something. I think if you want a 2017, you have a great proposed deal.

Better than most i have seen or heard about.
