Question Blinking "key" light on dash inquiry '07 FLHX

Background: I haven't been on my 2007 FLHX Street Glide in 3 years do to serious medical issues. I'm better now and want to ride.

Present day: After installing a new battery the "key" light on the dash to the right of the odometer is blinking and for the life of me, I can't remember what this indicates. The forks are locked in the straight position as it's on a dolly. The bike does have the factory alarm system. Yes, I have the touring/FLHX manual and I can't find any reference to the dash gauges.

Can someone please tell me what the blinking "key" light represents?

Thanks...Dan

It is your alarm system showing it is active. That is what mine does until I start it up, and I have the fob within range.

I'm pretty sure it means that your security system is armed.

On my 07 RK the blinking key light indicates the Security System is armed. Once the fob is near the bike and I turn on the ignition the light stops flashing. Also remember to change fob battery. If it's been sitting 3 years it's dead.

Wow. Three years off. Press the start button and hope she starts.

If so, take a short ride and get your sea legs back.

Worry about dash lights later. This one can not be serious.

Oil light staying on, well, then maybe you should worry.

All dash lights should get a mention somewhere in the manual.
I would look again. But the replies above sound right to me.

You didn't mention if you replaced the bike or key fob battery. I am assuming you replaced the bike's battery. I would also recommend replacing the battery in each key fob.

Cool

  1. Think calm thoughts!
  2. Breath slow and deep.
  3. Turn ignition on,
  4. Press Start -
  5. Stand back in awe and wonder as the engine fires and runs!
  6. Take for gentle amble round the block - perhaps to the local gas station to top up?
  7. Return home and reward yourself with your favourite beverage!
Oh and welcome back to two wheels!
