Default Security light remaining on

2008 FXD with new ape install. When I start the bike the security light goes off for a few seconds, and then comes back on. It stays on the entire ride. Kill the bike and restart, same thing. Changed the battery in the fob, same problem. The wire extensions were soldered and heat shrunk, and then larger shrink over the entire bundle. Solder connections are solid. No bus errors. no other issues. Not thinking that would even affect the security light. Any ideas or suggestions?

Not sure about your Dyna but with my Limiteds the Security light is controlled by the BCM. If it goes off and comes back on there is a DTC present.

It is controlled by the bcm, but no codes anywhere. P, B or U. I"m going to dig my other fob out of the safe and put a battery in it to see if maybe this fob is weak.
Thanks for your reply.

Thanks for your reply.
If your fob isn't working correctly you would have a starting issue. There is no in between. Either the fob works or it doesn't.

It was a shot in the dark. I have been ASE certified master tech in the auto industry for nearly 40 years, and have seen car keyless transmitters get weak countless times. They begin losing range sometimes. I would assume it's the same principal.

Glad it worked out but that wasn't the fix. It's a proximity system. Fob within range security is disabled bike will start. Fob out of range, dead fob battery or broken the ignition is disabled bike will not start without entering pin. The fob does nothing once engine is started. You can throw it on the floor after started and take off. Won't need it again until you want to restart. My educated guess based on original post is there was a wiring issue from the ape install. Maybe pinched wire or whatever that luckily worked itself out.
