Default Makes winding noise
2001 Rd king makes a grinding noise when letting clutch out in first gear and feels like its jerking under load

check compensator nut. my 02 had the compensator nut come loose and what started as a whine gradually turned into a loud almost grinding noise. the compensator nut had come loose enough to turn by hand. good luck

Would that also cause the motor to jerking or surge

Is the jerking filling after the clutch is out and engaged and you are running down the road? Or are you describing the actual clutch engagement?
