My Zumo connected right away with my Motorola Razor.
No, the Zumos don't come with a cig adapter for the bike just a hard wire install but I cut the wire short and put a cig adapter on the end. Works great, I can remove the cradle in about 30 seconds if I want. The cigarette lighter will only power the Zumo if the ignition is on or in the accessory position.
Also, you will only hear the Zumo if you have it pluged into the AUX jack on your radio. The Zumo and the motorcycle cradle has no exterior speaker.

Hey guys, I just read the user manual for my phone and it talked about the discover thing you all told me about. I didn't know that the phone was the passive partner and the Zumo was the active partner in the pairing. I'm gonna have to re-read the part about the PINs of the devices. Both the phone and the Zumo are brand new to me.
Oh, yeah, with the Zumo on battery power, no Bluetooth enabled, shouldn't it be "talking" out loud. I drove around with it this evening and it worked fine, but did not talk. (Crap, I suspect now that I may have had the volume tuned down). I'll check that ou tomorrow. My Garmin 330 talks out loud to me and figured the 550 would, too. (but is not Bluetooth)
BadAzz, for the bike, the 550 didn't come with a cigarette lighter plug-in charger. For the bike, it appears that my only option is to hardware it. Even with the cigarette lighter plug-in I rig up, it (I thank) will still think it is hooked to my battery. I'm not sure if that will charge it or not.
I just connected my new ZUMO 550 to my wife's Motorola Razr phone. Verysimple and works like a charm in the truck. But I thought I'd be able to use the Bluetooth ear piece in the truck with the ZUMObut you can only have one Bluetooth device allocated to the phone at a time. So when I'min the truck and the phone rings, it shows up on the ZUMO andI can talk and hearthrough the ZUMO. Pretty cool!
You can always connect the headset thru the Zumo instead of the phone. The Zumo can handle more than 1 device at a time. I agree the mic in the car cradle is pretty cool, but I have a hard time hearing the caller going down the highway, so I use my bluetooth headset. Maybe if my truck was quieter...

I tried this but couldn't get it to work. The phone has a feature that allows you to put it "search mode" or something like that so it can be detected by other devies(like the ZUMO), but when I turn the Bluetooth ear piece on the ZUMO doesn't find it. Maybe I'm missing something.

Thinking of getting the Zumo and read here that to hear the Zumo you have to plug it in to the Aux jack of the radio. When you plug in to the radio does that mean the only thing that will be heard is the Zumo ? In other words you wont be able to listen to the radio and the Zumo at the same time.
Thats a fact... yowill have to have the Aux input (instead of FM) selected on your radio to hear the voice guidance. However, if you subscribe to XM radio you will hear both XM and voice guidance through the Aux..
I am already a subscriber to Sirius and dont want to have two differnt services. It is ashamed you cant have your choice of satelite service providers. How often do you really need voice guidance ? Can a quick glance at the screen provide the neccessary info .
the screen is very user friendly. A quick glance at the top of the screen tells you the next road to turn on and the lower right corner tells ya how far ti that turn. I road from ohio to Texas and never had it hooked up to the aux. jack on the radio.

I placed my phone in "find me" mode and told the 550 to connect and it did. The phone is linked to my earpiece.
Not sure how I did it, but today all were working. I could hear the 550 in the ear piece and if the phone rang, the phone was answered. I could even dial a number from the 550. Everyhting was good.
I'll see if I can get it all together again tomorrow, and this time I'll make a note of the steps I did and in what order.
Thanks Hack. I tried connecting the earpiece to the 550 via the phone and the 550 couldn't find it. It had no problem finding just the phone though. Maybe I screwed something up and I'll give it another shot this morning.
