Hazard lights set off security key light
Currently I am getting codes b1121 and b1122 which are turn signal codes. I clear codes but they come back. Another post on here said put some dielectric grease on the bulb. I'll try that later.
Anywho, today I was riding and for sh%ts and giggles I turned the hazards on and the security key light came on. I turned off hazards and after maybe 10 seconds later security key light turned off. Check codes and only getting b1121 and b1122. Tested it out again and every time I turn on hazards the red key lights up. Key light does not stay on if I turn off bike and turn back on.
I'll be real embarrassed but is this normal?
If so, you most likely need the additional signal stabilizer (from CD) for the front LED's.
Look like I'll be calling CD on Monday.
"This is Normal. When activating the 4-ways, their load equalizer goes into "sleep" mode. In sleep mode, when you activate the 4-way hazards using LEDs, the bike thinks one of the bulbs has burnt out thus triggering the output failure codes. The output codes I am getting are a direct relation to this and is the only drawback to their load equalizer."
CD also commented that other load equalizers don't allow you to use the 4-ways with LEDs because their's can't handle it somehow. It has something to due with burning up the module when all 4 lights are on with LED bulbs. I didn't get this part too much but that's what they said.
So final answer, this is normal and is a safety to the bike. CD again proves they have great customer service by having their tech call me 15 minutes after I made my initial inquiry via the telephone.
So I just know that I have to clear the code after I use my hazards.
I have the CD LED turn signals on front and rear along with the load equalizer, I started noticing my red security key lighting up solid from time to time when riding. If I restart the bike it would go away but then come back again.
When the key was red either my right or left signals wouldn't work so I started looking into reading the DTC's, they were the same codes you are getting.
I ended up removing the load equalizer and front LED's and no more codes being thrown.
I shipped my load equalizer to CD for testing and they just called me to tell me there is nothing wrong with it.
Not sure what else to do, but I'll bet you're having the same problem
The DTC code does get logged but it doesn't affect the functionality of the lights.
My turn signals work correctly, the cancel correctly after making a turn and they do not hyperflash.....so it sounds like you may have something else going on?
Another member on this site said add some dielectric grease to the bulb connector. I did that because it wouldn't hurt anything. Maybe your bulbs are losing connection and since the LEDs run low power, that is causing the system to think a bulb is out.
I wish I had a better answer for you. I run a 2013 and my LED lights are Not CD LEDs. Just trying to provide information to assist in your search.

And yes, CD's customer service has been outstanding.
