Default Hammock seat differences?

Gave the dealer my bike info. and bought a Hammock seat today for my 2012 Ultra Limited. Got home and notice the box says 5200176. HD website says the seat fits 2014-2017 models. HD wesite says 52000003a fits 2009-2017. Does anyone know the difference between the 52000176 and 52000003A seats?

Do I need to return the seat for the other model? I also have the HD adj. backrest. Not sure which model works best with this backrest. I heard the newer model works better (which ever that one is) with the Adj. backrest?

Thanks

Might be a good question for the dealer you bought it from. I'm just guessing tho

In my experience the 176 seat is made for 14 and newer models. The 003 is for 13 down models. They say the adjustable back rest fits the newer one better, I don't know that to be true.

I do know this, the 003 seat gives the rider a lil more leg room than the 176. That's the one I opted for. I shimmed the front bracket supports up about a 1/4" and the backrest fits the slot in the seat just fine.

.

One of the main reasons I went for this seat was for more leg room. I'll talk with the dealer tomorrow and ask about the 003 seat. I had to really force the 176 seat onto my bike for a trial fit due to the Adj backrest position. I assume the 176 is the newer style seat? Hey DSM what year is your limited?

I am not sure as to the seat differences but be sure and put a couple of screws into the hammock on the bottom. My hammock had lost all of its springiness so I started Googling and reading and I found pictures on this website about how they will come loose and mine had done that as well. Several people I ride with their hammock seat was the same way.

I wanted to test ride Hammock (-176 PN) on my 2016 road Glide Ultra. I have the adjustable back rest. I could not even get the 176 seat on the bike with the back rest on. It wouldn't lay flat. So i took the back rest off and then took the hammock for a long test ride. I thought it was a much better ride than the stock seat, but, wasnt sure how much of the improved ride was due to the seat vs not having a back rest on. So, now i'm going to put stock seat back on, leave back rest off and go for an extended ride to measure impact of Hammock seat vs back rest.
