Replaced factory gauges with a set of Dakota Digitals. Very humid in SoIll and factory speedo was fogging. Put an oil temperature gauge there instead. Hope the oil never gets as hot as what that gauge will read, oil will be spraying out the gaskets. I guess its a good thing I practiced the staying away from hot lava game as a kid. One of the functions that the speedometer button cycles through now is air temperature anyway. Still uses factory sensor wherever it is.
My Ultra has a temp gauge but I don't bother looking at it. I pretty much can feel when the air temperature is hot and uncomfortable and I don't need to look at the gauge to know it's time to get the pony back in the barn and grab a cold one.
I also carry two pairs of gloves. When I need to put on the lined ones I know it's getting cold out.
Lookin' at a gauge when you are actually in the weather doesn't make any sense to me.
To those that actually answered the question I asked, Thank You.
To those who have an accurate guage, whether you use it or not, I'm pleased for you. The one in my 07 Ultra is not.
To those who assume I'm going to throw parts and money at it, you are wrong. I'm simply going to relocate the sensor. If it requires adding wire, I already have it.
To those who wonder why, are perpelxed or dont feel the need to know I'm mildly jealous. Unfortunately the guage is a device on my bike that is not functioning accurately. My OCD annoyingly wants most anything that should work a certain way to actually work as it should. I don't fight my OCD, in my field it can literally be the difference between injuring someone and even life or death. So, I will fix the guage dispite your understanding, or lack, of the need for it.
The 2014s and newer are different than previous bikes. I don't know what Harley did, but while my 2009 ultra temp was next to useless, my 2014 is typically within a degree.

10-4 on the OCD part of it. The fuel gauge on my 2005 went t!ts up on me one day. Every individual part of the fuel gauge system checked out - the gauge itself, the float/sender unit, and the wiring - but when I put it back together it wouldn't work. Bugged the dickens out of me so I removed it altogether, put an oil temp gauge in its place, and used the trip-o meter to tell me when I needed fuel. Rode like that for about 6 years. .

I do like to know an accurate temperature. The ambient temperature on my '03 is fairly accurate, but hard to read, especially when you're riding. I don't use it much, but it's kind of quaint.

I've been using the trip-o meter too for a while. I get about 200 to a tank so every 50 that ticks off is a quarter tank.
I removed my gas gauge and air gauge to install tweeters for the stereo system.
