I still prefer 100% cotton polishing cloth. Micro fiber works ok for some things but does not beat cotton for the final work.

i've been using old 100% cotton sweat pants and shirts for years with very good results. i have a stack of micro fiber stuff that came with different waxs and sealants over the years and just don't like the results i'm getting with them. i have some blue and white ones that do seem alittle softer, but the yellows are bad. maybe i'l just use them for cleaning glass.

Yup! Costco Yellow Micro Fiber work extremely well. That and they're cheap enough that they become shop towels when their use for polishing and waxing expires.

Not one of the things I overthink. It's just a motorcycle.

A Yamaha is just a motorcycle. A $30,000 Harley is an investment. A Vivid Black Harley is art.

There is a guy on you tube called AMMO NYC. The guy is definitely OCD about detailing cars. After watching his video (recommended to me by a friend that is just as OCD about cleaning his bike) I am convinced he is nuts, but he is the guy I would want detailing my vehicle if I was paying for it.
He sells towels on his web site that are reasonably priced and that he recommends. Me, I just buy the bulk pack from Advance Auto and I'm good with that.
My buddy is so nuts if one of his towels ever touches the ground he trashes it. He won't even wash it. It goes right into the garbage. My buddies bike is beautiful all the time. If he gets caught in a rain storm that's an 8 hour clean job. I'm no where that nuts. Dirt adds character.

Opinions vary. Investments have a chance at a positive ROI. Harleys are holes in the highway in which to throw money. My enjoyment of motorcycles (boats too for that matter) increased 10 fold once I accepted that fact.

i use fluffy soft bath towels to dry my bike. they dont get used for anything else, no swirl marks ect. i use turtle wax soap and a microfiber car wash mitt. dont use or like the microfiber cloths for reasons stated by others.
