Default 06 Road King Exhaust Change

Just purchased a 06 RK Classic and would like to change the pipes. The V&H and Screaming Eagle Pros sound great but just don't have the bucks right now to add the pipes plus map, etc. A friend of mine has an 03 Softail Classic. He had a mechanic take the baffles out of the stock pipes and adjust his carbs. SInce mine is EFI, can I take the baffels out and be ok with performance or will I damage the valves, etc.

Appreciate your responses.

You can change out the pipes without doing the map, but may get a little backfiring which will not hurt anything. I just wouldn't keep it that way and try to get the remap by next year, unless your able to ride yr round depending on where you live.

I would think pulling baffles on stock pipes would reduce backpressure too much. EFI needs to be remapped for various pipes. I'd check powercommander.com for a map of stock pipes with baffles removed. Perhaps someone else on here has a map for that setup.

easternperformance.com has the cheapest powercomanders I have found. Costs about 270 with free shipping.
