The newer ones look better. I bought some used off eBay but they where the newer type not sure when they changed. Once I did mine I had to change the passenger too so they matched. Eventually changed to brand new brake pad to match also as it's cheap.
Never liked the stock floorboard covers anyway. If you want something super sweet get ya a set of Cyclesmith Banana Boards in 21 3/4" One of the best mods I have ever made to a bike. May have to get a set for the new bike.
The rubber parts that went through the boards to hold the on dried out and came apart this year (I had the HD floor boards that moved them forward that I ran on my 2001 RKC for years and moved them to my 12 RGU). Went to the dealer and got new ones, about $65 I think.
Yeah, broken off. Thinking about drilling holes so I can bolt it back on.
I presume the piece that broke off fell to the ground and is not lost.
I wonder if bolting it on is a good thing because.:
1) Can you really bolt onto rubber?
2) Will the bolt scrape against the metal and start to cause rust? Which would be more expensive to repair. ??
Bikers Inc. located by clicking HERE has "wrecked bike's". You may be able to get a replacement floorboard rubber pad (or whatever it is called) cheaper than you can get it elsewhere.
