foxtrapper was in the right neighborhood when he was talking about the different wheel sizes, only it isn't the front so much as the rear. the roadglide ultra has a 16'' rear wheel, while the roadglide special has an 18'' rear wheel. while the different front wheels have no appreciable affect on the ride height, the rear wheel does.
the ultra has a 180/65-16 which has an overall diameter of 25.2''
the special has a 18/55-18 which has an overall diameter of 25.8
total of .6'', divide that in half and that gives you .3''
special has ground clearance of 5.5 inches
ultra has groud clearance of 5.1 inches.
I think you maybe splitting hairs here. The literature that HD and every other company puts out is often times incorrect by minute amounts. Especially in terms of weights and measures. Then there is HP/TQ which are often times over blown.
As mentioned the actually measurement that matters is lean angle unless you plan on off roading it.
The clearance you need to be concerned with is how many degrees you can lean it over before grinding the hard parts. ....
This. What matters most is what's going to touch down first (footboards or extended bags??) when cranking it over on it's side--not how much daylight there is between the frame and the ground (although it is related).
