Default Thundermax map with Rine TD's??

I mentioned in another post that I had some decel poping with map 384 installed. I called Randy at Zips and he had me load the updated version for Rinehart TD's which was map 393. I tool the bike out and the decel pop is much worse and more like a backfire. My Afr's with the 384 map are almost 14 in each and with 393 they run about 13.5 or so but never 12. The 393 map should have got it rich enough to stop it but now dice. I am about to rip this dam thing off and go get a SERT. I was told by Zips a fix is on the way but no date.

Anyone have any map suggestions?

I'm running 393 and getting MINOR popping on decel, nothing too bad.

I have RH TD also and I lowered the AFR on map 393 on the AFR vs TPS maps down to
13.19 on the 2560 rpm map, 2304, 2048, and 1792. I did this on all the trottle positons( 0 toabout 29.6 oneach map, this is the scale at the bottom of each map) out to the point where they dropped below 13.19 AFR. I blended them in so it was a smooth transition. This eleminated allmy decel popping and it runs strong. To get to this final map I started with the stock 393 map and kept lowering the maps I mentioned above one cell at a time until I got rid of all the popping.
Hope this helps you.

Your wrong, minedidn't change.I know because I checkedit on a160 mile run on the stock map and again on a 280 mile runafter I changed it to the final map. 38 mpg before and after. I have a heavy hand and wind it out. I seldom shift until at least 4000 rpm through the first 5 gears. I now have more power using less throttle.

Hello Cowboyglide,

Have you talked to anybody from Zipper's about the change of settings you did to correct the popping, especially upon deceleration? I think they would be interested to hear what you did, and I'd be interested to hear what they had to say about it since they haven't provided a fix yet. Thanks for your post.

Ride safe,

Yeah, it sounds like YOUR map mike make a good addition to their base map collection.

I am thinking about doing a Thundermax, but now I am wondering if I ought to just stick with SERT and get rid of these pipes. Have an' 06 SG with Rineharts, and it pops on decel with every map and dyno that has ever been run on it, plus the end caps change colors. I wonder if it isn't the Rineharts now? Not flaming the pipes, just getting frustrated. Bike is 18 months old, ten shop visits, was running ok for a while, but started to stutter, almost like it was shutting off or starving for fuel for a second. does this anywhere north of 2200 rpms. Not really predictable, but if you get on slab and run for a few minutes... it will happen.. Also cannot handle temperature change... Start out in the afternoon, and ride into early evening? Bike is a REAL handful with the stuttering and hiccup.

Considering these options...

Thundermax with the current Rineharts

SERT with a different set of pipes

Selling the bike and starting over. This time with a carbie older bike.

Apologies for the hijack, but this thread caught my eye, and missing a lot of quality riding time again this summer with this bike.
