Default Lowering front end

I know it’s been asked before but I put a 21 on my 08 and it sits about 1 1/4 higher. I’ve been riding it all season and I’m used to the way it rides but this winter I need to rebuild the forks and powder coat them.

i notice lower speeds around the city it does handle worse but in the highway it handles like it’s on rails

so my question is how many have you lowered yours or just left it alone? I was going to do the progressive kit but I’m unsure now

I was in the same boat as you when I did the 21” on my 08. My biggest issue was I didn’t like the way it leaned over on the kickstand. I eventually went with the Progressive lowering monotubes and love it. Handles much better and no nosedive on hard stops.

When you went with the lowered monotube set up did you go with the 1" or 2" drop?

DO NOT GO WITH 2”! Accidentally did the 2” first time, way too low. Pulled it and adjusted to 1” , much much better

Thank you. Also with the 1" drop how many clips did you use? I know the install instructions call for 3 but I'm reading threads that say the ride is harsh and to use only 2 clips.

21 here also. Monotubes, 1” with 2 clips. No difference in ride compared to stock height Monotubes.

I used these on mine, drops it 1 1/2" by changing the damper tubes to shorter ones. Easy to do since you will have your forks apart already. Can still use your stock springs. I would raise the oil level in the forks about 1 1/2" from what the manual says to prevent the fender hitting anything on hard bumps.

With the stock springs the ride will be the same as stock, mine has different springs (the H-D lowering kit springs) that I spaced about 5/8" along with higher oil level to prevent any crossbar contact so it rides stiffer than stock. Handles great though.
