It controls oscillation from the apparatus that re-calcimines the fortiscube ... in the floorboard, of course :>)

What he said or your lift is missing one of four springs. Better check.

check your passenger foot boards there is a spring in there under a ball or something.

We did try that. That was the best the guy at Legends could come up with too. He had a repair kit for the floorboard and we were able to compare the two springs. The floorboard spring is actually quite a bit larger than this spring. Thank you (and everyone else who suggested this) for giving it a shot though.

I think that one of the tools I was using is the most likely culprit at this point. I’ll go through them and see if one seems to be missing something.

Did you remove/replace your switch caps? More specifically, the high/low beam switch. It is a mechanical switch that uses very small copper terminals with springs over them to hold the switch in the low beam or high beam position. It's a crappy design.

If the spring is from that switch, the switch won't "lock" into position.

althoough parts manual is online, I have found im regularly thumbing through the pages to identify the parts that might have fallen off.

Have you replaced the brake light switch in the right handlebar control module? Looks like the spring from that switch.
