I roll the rear tire onto a piece of old shelving that's about a1'x 2'and 1/2" thick and the jack slips right under my SG. I can't imagine it working without something under the rear tire, at least not without a struggle.

Just stand the bike up and push the jack under with your foot. Or put a 2x4 under the kick stand to stand her up straighter.

It was only a matter of time until this turned into a Red vs Yellow thread, again. MTPOLAND has it right on the proceedure. I like the fact that you can lower with your foot on the pedal rather than twisiting the handle. Never could gently lower the bike, or my car on the car jack, using a handle type jack. In my case I brought the yellow one back.

I also have the red jack and position it just in front of theframe channel (the piece that ties both sides of the frame together). I can silde it half way through from the right side and then liftmy bike off the jiffy stand with one hand sliding it through the rest of the way. It's a tight fit but works well for me with my lowered Road king Custom.

I roll the jack up to the right side of the bike whilethe bike ison the jiffy stand and I line up the left part of the jack with the channel on the rear part of the frame. Then I grab the front brake/grip and pull the bike upright as I slide the jack under the bike. As soon as the jack is all the way under the bike it will hold the bike upright. Then just check to make sure the bike is centered on the jack and start to lift it.
Works for me.
Yep, what he said!

stand 3ft to the right of your bike.... center the jack to the frame and run like hell toward the bike.... bike will pop-up on the jack.

Sorry early morning bad humor
