I haven't checked mine since first being set and really don't pay attention. But are you saying that rolling the throttle forward will automatically shut it off? I hope not as that is one of the ways I disengage cruise control.
yes, that is how you engage/disengage it. but not to worry, it takes more time than just the quick roll forward that you would do to disengage cruise.
I believe the OP claims he gets the one lung idle even before the machine is up to temperature. If my understanding is correct, he has a problem separate from just accidentally rolling the throttle forward. EITMS should NOT activate on a cool engine. If this continues, you have a warranty problem to be looked into at the dealer.

I thought the new bikes engage it based on outside temp and not engine temp? My 2013 does it based on engine temp but I thought that changed with 2014+ bikes.

You should be ok to do that to disengage the cruise control without causing a change the the EITMS. You have to hold the throttle forward for a few seconds to cause it to engage or turn off. On my '14 Limited, I have to roll mine forward for a few seconds, release, then roll it forward and hold it for a few seconds again to turn it on or off.
