If you just want a reliable, weatherproof gps, nothing beats a zumo. For your streetglide, you can get a fairing mount or a handlebar mount for those. I used the same zumo over 4 bikes over a decade till I got a rushmore bike.

I am using my old Android phone (Galaxy S6). No service on it, so I share my internet connection from my daily driver phone with the hotspot feature. Gives me the option of Google maps, Waze, or Copilot as navigation apps. Copilot keeps all maps stored on device so it works in areas of no cell service (g maps will do this if you download your route ahead of time too).

I do this because I much prefer the currency of information in live nav apps, versus slow updates of dedicated gps units. The phone also gives me lots of other cool stuff like satellite weather radar and tons of music options.

Used a ram x mount on my previous bike (deluxe) with no issues, mounted to the bars. On the limited, I had the fairing gps dock from the previous owner, so I modified an OtterBox case with a weather cover from the Harley gps mount, so the phone snaps right onto the fairing. That would be pricey if you don't already have the fairing gps bracket though.

Lots of good info.

I replaced my cigarette lighter with 2 usb plugs. Looks likes I'll do the handlebar mount power it with the usb plug, and route a plug to aux port. Sounds like it should work hopefully.

I use a Garmin 660LM....never could get the Infotainment to follow the way points. I have the attention span of a gnat, so I wanted the GPS in my line of sight. Ended up using the tandtfabrications.com mount. I fabricated an adapter to use the automotive mount that is provided with the GPS, so I wouldn't have to hard-wire the motorcycle mount to the bike.

I have a Ram X mount I put on my handlebars when I need it. I use the CoPilot app on my Samsung Note so I don't have to worry about a data signal. I also put the Metra Bluetooth interface on my '13.

I currently have a ZUMO 660 on my roadglide using a RAM mount. I have in the past used Garmin NUVI on bikes, and although they are not 'water proof', I have never had one fail....and still use my original one I had on my 2004 Ultra Classic.....but I bought it without LIFETIME maps. So it is the one I loan out to people. If Dale 1 of 2 is still on here...he will vouch for NUVIs on bikes. He had the same model as me and we rode in some hellashus storms...handlebar mounted-behind fairing. That said....a ZUMO is in the $600 range still (?). A cheaper NUVI can be had for $125....so, you could buy a couple NUVIs and keep them for back ups!

I use an old repurposed iPhone 5s on a RAM x-grip tethered to my present iPhone's data. When I'm roaming in the US I have a Verizon sim in my cellar capable iPad and use it's data. 2 GBs of data for 1 month is $35 US with no contract, my provider wants $70 Can for a 2GB add-on.

I also have Maps.me installed on my devices with the maps downloaded for the areas I'm travelling. This way I still have GPS if I have no cellular network available.

The NIM isn't worth the price or hassle to me. If I'm listening to music, it's probably XM so the Zumo mutes it for driving instructions anyway.
The newer Zumo's don't have the XM option, but I've got an older one that I can get weather radar on. I love that part.
What he said. Works great

For years I used a handlebar mounted Garmin NUVI-885, that I found online for under $100, worked great, and I did catch the occasional rain storm...nothing a zip lock baggie, and a rubber band couldn't cure... plus it had a built in MP3 player
then my wife borrowed it to go somewhere... and it became HERS.
A short while later, I found a brand new ZUMO 660 Garmin.. for $300, and it's "for bikes" with a MP3 player...
No disrespect to the infotainment system.... but I can pop the unit off the bike , use it in my car (if I had a mind to) bring it in the house and update maps in no time... upload new routes, dowload trips etc...
From what I've seen and read (taking into consideration what morons , my friends are)..my way is easier, and faster
