The bike in my sig pic is a 2007 Road King Police. Obviously, it's been modified a bit. When I changed from an aftermarket batwing fairing to a OEM Road Glide fairing, I also wanted everything (radio, gauges) to work as if it came from the factory that way. Road King waring harnesses do not have provision to add the fairing sub harness, so I stripped the original wiring harness, and changed to a OEM bagger wiring harness and fairing sub-harness. This way, if I ever sell the bike, the new owner can use Road Glide manuals to do any needed repairs.
The sarge in his civi's You never know what a old police bike will have done to it already, SE 203 cams and a hydraulic tensioner with 10k were already in place. I called the police motor pool until I finally got someone to talk to me. Bike was one officers mount until he retired and Sam became a backup mount. He was decommissioned at 80,036 because his fuel pump went out. Over operational budget. He sat from 2016 until I bought him in 2021. He's got a police bag on one side and a sheriff's department half bag on the other. Top view ( my dad was retired sheriff from Kentucky and Georgia ( I put his badges on the dashboard) Bike is actually from Georgia one county away from where he was a sheriffs deputy. The sarge day I bought him, ( always check out the Harley with the cardboard sign)😉 he came with a radio box , the control unit for lights and sirens, the police ferring and a 2 up street glide seat that doesn't fit. And several other odds and ends. Unfortunately his original purchaser from the auction had been diagnosed with vertigo shortly after buying Sam. A fuel pump and complete service brought him back to life.
80,000 miles(88,426)now and couldn't be happier with my purchase. He's currently undergoing some cosmetic surgery. Keeping the same color scheme just a little more black and a police ferring. Not the batwing. Looks more like a non Ridgid mounted road glide ferring. He'll be back to civilian duty very soon.
Man there are some very cool and beautiful bikes in this thread. I love keeping old veterans on the road, human and machine Gives me lots of inspiration. Thank You to the active and retired Motor officers, for your service, and being two wheeled Angels 😇 may God watch and protect you all 🙏
Keep the shiny side up.
