In response to everyone saying you will be hooked on the M8. Before I had a Harley, I would refrain from even going near a dealership. I lived by this moto. I don't go into Harley stores and I don't watch beauty pageants. My rationale, was if I can take one for a ride, I don't want to window shop. I cant afford one ever so I'm not going to pretend I will someday. It took me 30 years to get a Harley, I don't have 30 years left.

I would stay away from a used M8. You could be getting someones problems and the comment about both the twin and m8 have issues this is true but the twin has fixes whether the Moco has none for the m8

My cvo M8 is a great bike, trouble free so far. Previously I had 3 TC CVO's over the years. If I was convinced that reliability was a widespread issue, I wouldn't have done it.

I rode a couple M8's. They were OK but not wonderful enough to convince me to spend the $$$ on one. My old 103 would eat them alive. To be fair though it's not stock and the M8's were.

Default Test ride

I say test ride an M8. I traded a built twin cam w/SS gear driven cams & CNC ported heads plus Fueling plate & pump, dyno-tuned-by T-man in Pembroke, NY @ 96hp/98ft/lbs torque, and I think my new Fat Bob 114 stock is better. Low end torque is useable & abundant. Like comparing small block w/ big block. Potential is amazing.

I love my twin cam, but ride both if you can and pick the best for you!

I'd wait out the storm...for one there are some issues with some of the m8s...second I think the 114 will be coming to the touring lineup in 2019. Hopefully hd will have some answers to the sumping and transfer that some bikes have by then...that's what I'm waiting to see, in the meantime I'll spend the winter months chasing the never ending power upgrades.
