get your chrome fork lowers from willyshiny.com. the quality is heads above the hd forks. if you take a look at hd chrome forks, you'll see that the fork was only polished 2/3 of the way around. the section that faces in to the wheel is still rough and bumpy. then they chrome over that. ***** shiny will polish the lower all the way around before chroming it.
not to mention that with trade, ***** shiny forks are less than $200
at full labor rate at an indy, you'll still probably be farther ahead than full pop on the fork lowers and 1/2 price on the labor through hd.
Big second for ***** Shiny.
I went with the MOCO factory chrome lowers simply because they were part of an insurance claim that netted them at no cost to me. Once I got them I have compared them to the ***** Shiny lowers, and they are no where near as nice.
