Paul must be a great guy to deal with if he drove your painted parts from Florida to Indiana to install them for free.Maybe a part of the story is missing?
Nothing "Missing" Says he does the trip every year around this time. Mostly sets up at bike shows and changes out inner while you wait. He is in Minnesota now. Just gotta reserve a spot on his list. Go to his website or Facebook page and you will see.
I believe he is on a circular road tour. I saw something maybe on his FB page about after the 1st of the year he was going to head N then turn W and then head back south. I believe the exact route and approximate timing were also listed and if you were near his route he would veer off and do your inner fairing if you let him know.
His prices have sky rocketed if what the OP quoted is correct. I wouldn't have paid that much. That's just nuts.
Just to buy the painted 7 parts from dealer is over $1200 for the Road glide. Plus dealer will charge you 4 hours of shop time. Only charged my buddy $475 to do this street glide on the same day.

I guess I've shown my ignorance. Never having dealt with a RG I didn't realize there were that many parts associated with the inner fairing.
Paul Is a really great guy. My boss and another friend have bought inner and outer fairing parts at swap meets and had them delivered to him at Laconia for them to be shipped back home for paint. While we were in Myrtle Beach this past yr(17), Paul was having issues with power to his trailer set up work area and my boss ran to get parts and him and I went to work and got him up and running. Lights and outlets working again....so he could continue into the evening. I ended up with a Hogtunes tweeter pod for helping....we did it because he is a standup guy.
