There are two basic designs: those that place the sensor inside the tyre and replace the valve stem; replacement valve caps with an integral sensor, that simply screw onto a stock valve stem. I tried an example of the second type, but found one of the caps hit my custom brake caliper, so I'm still looking!

Garmin. Connects with my Zumo 390LM, gives low psi alarms, readings on the fly. Even graphs the psi over time. Small dime batteries last a year.

I went the other route... in tire sensor, display by my right hand, and powers up & down with my bike.
