Recently, like yesterday, I set out to change out the rear brake pads on my 2012 FLHTK. Removed all the items that must be removed in order to gain access to the rear caliper. Removed the caliper. The next step was to remove the "L" shaped retaining clip then on to loosen and remove the retaining pin. The pin rotated out normally and when I felt that there was no more thread to turn out, I removed my allen socket and tried to remove the pin. Even though the pin is entirely screwed out, I cannot for the life of me remove the pin from the caliper. WTH! It turns both directions freely but cannot be removed. I am at a total loss.
Get a small screw driver, (or similar),, push the retaining pin, (from the back), at the same time as unscrewing the retaining pin with allen socket ...
It is just a little tight ,, and needs a helping hand to pop through the hole after all the bolts threads are undone .... Sometimes when re installing the retaining pin, you may have to push on the allen socket a little more than normal to catch the threads....
