Default Bagger bar question

So I traded my softail in on a 2007 ultra classic and am upgrading the bars. I am 5'6". I sat on a street glide at the shop that had 16" bars and they felt comfortable but they were a different style then what I am getting and I am worried the 16" might be to tall. With my height would the 14" be better. Any one with an ultra have any advice on 14" or 16" bars? Thanks In Advance

My 12" bars are comfortable and I'm 6' with long'ish arms. I couldn't imagine being 5'6" and trying to ride 16's for any length of time. No way.

I would think 12 or 10" bars would be a good fit given your height and install will be much easier without having to replace wiring or lines.

Ultimately you should go with what you are most comfortable with...

Thank you for the replies. I had the 12" with 1" riser on my softail with a low seat and 2" lowering kit. Felt comfortable. New to the bagger and I sit high in the seat. I'm think I'm going to get the lower bars like mentioned.

You’ll probably end up changing the seat from stock so take that into account. Also, if you’re doing the work yourself, do get the service manual for your bike. Another pitfall for bar changers on the older tourers is guys end up posting and asking about how to fix their misaligned ignition switch!

I started thinking about the seat and it's just makes more since. I'm having a shop do the work this go around. While I was there I sat on a custom SG he had in there and it was low. He Said the bars were 16" But they curved down at the grips. Felt nice but I think I'm going with the 13 or 14"

The bars that came on do not fit you?

No they sit to low. I feel like him hunched over. I like riding with my arms at around shoulder height. Feels more comfortable and hands don't go numb as quick
