New to Harleys, this is my first. My 2010 RK did not have a windshield when I bought it. Also, because of circumstances, the day after I bought it in Nov, I had to take it to the dealer for winter storage. Long story short, I bought a windshield off my local classifieds, but am pretty sure I need some other mounting parts.
All you more experienced riders/mechanics, is this going to fit on my 2010? is it indeed a quick release windshield? and what mounting parts do I need to get for this? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks so much!
Whatever it is you've got, it isn't a Road King windshield. That would have funny looking spring clamps at the top that go over rubber bushings, and a half-slot in the bottom that goes into another rubber bushing.
Looks rather like the windshield off my 1990 FLHS, the bike prior to the RK. Will it fit your RK? Quite possibly. You've got it now, so its worth trying! It isn't qd, but how long does it take to remove with a wrench? I took mine off often enough over the years....
Most manufacturers will stamp some kind of name or design on a windshield near a bottom corner.
The pictures are a little difficult to clarify due to background chosen but it seems like it has an adjustable center window.
I think i see a rectangle cut below center horizontal windshield bracket and then a circle cut for headlight at bottom.
That center cut at the bottom looks way to small for a Road King nacelle headlight.
Looks to be an aftermarket windshield and not a Harley Factory product.
More like a universal fit windshield and not model specific.
It is not a factory Harley Road King quick release windshield.
Some of the brackets might be harley but you seem to have some kind of mismatching of items to have made it work for a bike.
The vertical brackets on windshield are not quick release.
Could it be a National Cycle windshield?
It is a branded HD windshield, and you are correct, it does have that rectangular piece in there. It is attached to the mounting brackets on the side, but the part above the headlight cutout is not 'sealed', and I can flex it and put my hand through it if need be. I am going to swing by my local dealer and try and find out exactly what it is..and then try and sell it. It's in good shape, I just need to know what it goes to!
I will try and get some better photos for you to explain what I am saying.
