On my 3rd Road Glide and never gave it a thought. A person can get one of those stupid ugly adjustable shields for it but why lower the fairing? Just curious.
A buddy of mine just bought an 18, and dealer had this, and some other things installed on it. He added lowers, and had to return the fairing to stock height. So, I think they removed it, and he may sell it. He hasnt picked the bike up yet, or all the parts. (114 kit installed as well)
Im considering the same thing. I saw a bike this last weekend that had a lowed front fairing, and a 21 inch front wheel. It totally changed the look of the bike. I liked it.

Strictly cosmetic. I like the way the bike looks if the gap between the fairing and front fender is a bit less than stock.

Okay, that actually looks cool. But what keeps the fender from hitting the fairing? I have seen non modified touring bikes with a nice dent in the fender and there was no such modification.

Given the FLTR, was.(or at least used to be), the only H-D subjected to wind tunnel testing....I'd be curious how a lowered fairing would feel on the open road...
or... perhaps that isn't the target demographic?
