The bars are adjustable! In fact your dealer should IMHO have offered to set it up for you, so you are comfortable. You'll be surprised how a little movement in the bars can change or improve how you sit. It's well worth taking a little time out doing that before shopping for new bars.

Hi Ed,
Congratulations on the new Street Glide Special. I too am in M'Boro and wonder if you did the deal at Bumpus? I just traded in a 2012 Heritage for a 2012 Ultra Limited. Not a new bike by any means, however only 5K miles on the new to me Ultra Limited. Is your Street Glide Special brand new and what color is it?
Thanks!
Phil

Thanks everyone appreciate it. Grbrown we did do a bit of adjustment on the bars and it helped a bit.
Phil I did buy at Bumpus. But the bullet and bought new which I swore I wouldn’t do again. Pretty good group over there in my experience. I got the blacked out black. Always been a chrome ***** guy so this blacked out look is a first for me. Lol

Congrats on the new Street Glide or as I like to call them "The Harley Davidson ME2"
Cause every time someone ask me what I ride and I tell them a Street Glide they say "ME TOO". Get it - ME2. I kill me.

Congrats again

Thinking about jumping on a Street Glide. I have a 2010 Fat Boy Lo that I love the look and the ride ( will be keeping it) but think I really would like to have some amenities like the storage, radio and cruise control-still struggling with the Street Glide or Road Glide question but have one just about the Street Glide-what is really the difference between a Street Glide and a Street Glide Special?

Default Ride it for a while

As others have pointed out, the bike will ride and feel different than the Heritage. It may take a little while to get used to the different reach. That does not mean you will not eventually like the way the bars and seat are situated. I have a 2011 Road King Classic and I drove it for half a season with the stock bars. I did realize they needed changing so I eventually made the change to something that was pulled back a little more.

Put fat mini apes on my RK before even collecting it from dealer--if I recall correctly they're similar spec to heritage bars that were popular upgrade on touring at one time, and I'm same height as you and knew right away stock bars would be really uncomfortable on longer rides. I pulled them back in line with forks to gain a little extra instead of standard ape hanger forward tilt, but did not get close seat when I ordered a Corbin--feel like that would compromise comfort with floorboard position. I can sit comfortably on it all day now, and buddies have commented that I look very relaxed and comfortable riding. Stock Heritage is tough to beat for our height, but after a little tweaking I'm very happy with bagger utility and suspension. Congrats, I think you'll be pleased once you get it dialed in.
