Well I want to swap my monotubes out for something better like FKC 101. If Im not imagining things...arent there more options or better options for 49mm bs the. 41mm? I can almost guarantee I cant afford to do extra front end work like triple trees and inverted forks or whatever but thought...hmm maybe I could find a 2014 front end and just swap the whole thing..
I think you might be chasing unicorns. The short travel suspension both front and rear are limited on what you can expect to get out of them. The monotubes are an improvement over stock. I have them and they could be better but what are you trying to gain?
If you're wanting to switch out your current monotubes to, say Ohlins, they make them for both the pre-Rushmore bikes and Rushmore bikes. Other manufacturers do as well. No need to change forks,
The difference with the 14 up is also the upper tree clamps the tube so its stiffer. How much I dont know but its gotta be better than a 13 down. My 2011 with the front wheel in a chock is laughable how much flex there is when I move the bars and its not the bars moving in relation to the tree.

Yes there are more and better options for the 49mm forks. The Ohlins 25mm FKC101 cartridge is for 41mm forks, their FKC102 for 49mm. Neither of those are adjustable, but come with superior damping than most set-ups out there. The 49mm forks will also take the fully adjustable Ohlins 30mm cartridges, which probably set the gold standard. Howard is the acknowledged expert on all such things!
As for 41mm forks, CCE makes a kit with clamping billet top tree and extended fork tubes, which I have on my older Glide (along with FKC101 cartridges). I also have Ohlins #3-3 rear shocks, so have a mid-price suspension set-up, which is an alternative solution, a good deal cheaper than a swap to 49mm. However if you want the 30mm top-shelf solution then going to 49mm forks is definitely the way to go, along with #6 shocks.
