Hi I am new to the forum and currently drive an 06 fatboy. Unless something drastic happens, tomorrow I will be purchasing a 2007 Road King Classic. I just wanted some feedback on the major differences between the two. I am 6'3 and 290lbs and I love the look of the RKC. It is vivid black and I just feel more comfortable sitting on this bike. If someone could expound on things such as ride quality speed etc, I would really appreciate it. Thanks a lot.
I think you'll find it handles better than a Fatboy. It also is much more comfortable for a guy your size. It won't feel as quick as your Fatboy due to the extra weight. Not sure if the softail line is geared differently than the touring bikes. They used to be.
i havent had any other harley's this is my king and i love it. the ride is incredible. it is so smooth at hwy speeds. just do the stage 1 stuff and you will be happy
Your about the same height / weight as I am. I've got a RK (pictured below).
I have found that the handle bars on the stock RK sux. I've decided to change up, have a set of touring bars, just not installed just yet.
Sit on an Ultra or EG a couple times back and forth to the RKC. You should feel that the RKC has you hunched forward some. IMO I don't care for that feeling or postion when I ride thats why I'm changing out mybars.
Have the dealer throw the change in before you take delivery, will be much more comforatable on long rides.
You will also find a ton of topics revolving around this with others asking about changing bars.
Do the stage 1; a/c, pipes, fuel management sys, and add an oil cooler.
I couldn't be happier with mine. Did roll the bars back a little for better position, probably will change out to a wild chubby mini apes at some point, so you want new bars as Ram said, and stock seat will have to go too. Otherwise roll-on some throttle and enjoy!
I love my '07 RK Classic. The seat is fine and the stock handlebars fit me well. I've not done the first mods yet but do plan on a good Stage 1 soon. Once you ride it, everything else will feel like less of abike.
I have an 05RKC and love it. rode my friends fatboy a few times before I bought my bike and the bike just felt small. You should really enjoy the comfort and ride of the new RKC.
