Default ACR’s in 09 Road King

Thinking compression releases?

ACR’s just fire it up...

Manual releases try and look cool going through a start up ritual at the gas station.

You need to catch up!

As far as Compression releases … depends on the bike, build, and location.

IMHO, a stock 96 should have ACR’s in high heat areas, even if it is only some of the time.

The MoCo realized the 103’s needed them most of the time, so on regular production models they were included.

If modifying a bike, with either graeter cubes and/or higher compression you should definetly have some type of compression release, whether it be in the form of ez-cams or actual physical (manual or automatic) compression releases.

Just my opinion.

Dealer suggested ACR’s to make life easier on Hot Starts. Just had work done including replacement of compensator (Upgraded to SE) along with a few other beat up pieces in the primary. My ESP covered the cost. He mentioned that CR’s would help even further with kick back issues on Hot Starts. Apparently Andrews 48’s timing can initiate some kick back. I hope the beefier comp will cure the issue. For all I know his ACR suggestion was an attempt to sell me some heads and wiring??

If I do any head work I’ll add CR’s while I’m at it for future displacement/compression increases.

In any case I’m pretty much caught up.

There is the cheap way and the smart way. Cheap says I don't need Compression releases.
Smart way does them while doing other work. Cheap way lives with the regret pays for it latter in starters and batteries. The smart way saves in long run.
Down the road smart way sells or trades a bike done right with added value. Cheap way just another half *** build being peddled off.
Either way you do it worth while.

You can have your heads drilled for factory ACRs.
HD sells a wiring harness for them and it can be enabled by a setting in the ECM but you'll need either a HD tech to do that or it may be possible to do it yourself if you have an aftermarket tuner.

Could also just wire the ACR circuit to the starter circuit.
