so sold my 02 RK start of last summer got sick over it and in desember i picked up a 08 EG today was the fist time i rode it and well was disappointed, didnt have any where near the punch my 02 had
to be fair my 02 had true dual pipes, kuryakyn crusher mufflers, air clean & Cobra FI2000R tuner that i dialed in with a wideband gauge. my RK had batwing, bag bars if i had to guess id say it was maybe 35lb lighter then this EG main weight difference is the tour pack
this EG has the power commander 5 on it but stock pipe and air cleaner?
any way was pretty shocked i thought the 96/6 speed would of had better power, on the upside ride is nicer then the RK, brakes feel better and the 6th gear is sweet
The gearing on the 08s can make it feel sluggish off the line. I changed my gearing with a 49 tooth ring gear conversion. There are other ways like rear pulley, etc to obtain better results.
thanks for the tips! i have AVS (altered vehicle syndrome) so i see some exhaust and air cleaner in my future if that dont cut it then probably the gearing will be messed with
You can pick up a set used 255s pretty cheap and drop them in. A guy I ride with has them in his 2010 street glide and his bike pulls like a freight train. Dawg and the others are right about the gearing too.
