I had 12" bars put on this winter. I was like you, and really questioned my decision between 10 and 12s. Im only 5'10" So far, I've only ridden a hand full of times. But, I'm very happy that i decided to go with the 12s

These should give you an idea of height, the grips will be just above the top of the fairing on each side, my arms are straight out and slightly bent. For me it was a major comfort change over stock bars, your mileage may vary.

12 Inch Paul Yafee Monkey Bars HELP-photo95.jpg

Had the same concerns as you. Went with the 12" Yaffe. Haven't ridden, just tested at the dealer for position yesterday, they felt great.
I'm 6-1".

I'm done with trying to make the decision... 12's are the way to go based on all the great feedback.

Mike you won't regret that decision. I installed the 12s on my '11 SG over the weekend and absolutely LOVE them. I am 5'11" and its a very comfortable ride.
