Looking at some helmets, and I would like to know what is it that you guys wears, short long distances and around the town. Knowing that spring is hear and the blistering summer is around the corner just asking for advice. An yes I know not every has the same style of dome.
We wear the HJC/Harley IS half helmet with the pull down shield that slides up inside the helmet. Its actually more like a 3/4 helmet. You can change the shield out for tint, dark tint or whatever. Inside padding is removeable for washing or replacement. Great helmet.
HJC IS-17 full face with pinlock visor, might be warm in the Arizona heat but I like the protection and the wind noise is really minimal if fitted properly.
We like Bell custom 500 helmets. They are small (doesn't look like an egg or marble), light weight, and very comfortable. They are very reasonably priced $119 Dennis Kirk. Our color of choice is white reflects more light and seems cooler.
In the winter, I like the Bell Pit Boss. It has the zip in/out ear and neck warmer along with the drop down visor and the quick adjust **** on the back of the head for when I'm wearing my ski mask, or not. In the summer, it's the lightest DOT peanut shell that I could find made by WCL. The WC888........
Always good to have a few helmets for different options. Some times for me it's no helmet if I'm in the mood. Other times, it's a small , light half helmet with 3 buttons on the front and I keep a snap on clear face shield in one of the saddlebags to deal with rain out on the highway if it happens. Most times though, it's my trusty Modular. Love the protection and the ability to flip it up at a light to talk with a buddy or if going super slow on a road due to traffic and want some more air. Most times, though it's locked down; it's legal, it easy not to get pulled over for a spot check, still hear the tunes great and it plain just works out on the highway or when ripping fast on back roads.
Gringo S, I was a Bell fan, but I discovered i'm more long oval than round. Biltwell fit better. No 1/2 lids for me, too much wind noise from helmet edge and straps. 3/4 or FF for me.
