I was talking to my mechanic today and asked about updating my map. He asked what tuner I had? I said Harley race tuner. He told me that he had another customer come in and asked to have his map updated. When he hooked everything up and started the program on his computer, the program said it needed to update. When he hit the update button, the update erased the program from his computer and even deleted the icon on his desk top. He thinks that with all the trouble Harley got in for the timers, they decided to erase all the programs. Has anyone else heard about this? So now the only place we can go to get a dyno or update the map is Harley?
don't have an answer. The Harley race tuner was known as the SERT. Then came the pro off road tuner which nearly everyone used for the street, sometimes called the race tuner. when HD got in **** they came out with the street tuner but continued to update the pro off road. I heard rumors that the updates were beginning to restrict tuning abilities. But then along came the Rushmore and then M8 and those tuners became obsolete or less talked about.
Well I don't know if there is much difference between the Race Tuner and the Pro Super Tuner but I have heard they do basically the same things and I have the Pro Super Tuner and just used it this week to make a couple of adjustments on my EG. I just went downstairs and fired up the software on my workbench computer and it didn't ask to update. From what I have read the Race Tuner and Super Tuner Pro use the same software. The Street Tuner is the EPA neutered version that uses different software.
I will say one time the software wanted to update and the update failed. I had to manually re-download the software from Harley's website by keying in my tuner number and reinstalling from that file. After that it worked fine, no functions were restricted or blocked.
You have to key in the number on the back of your tuner module to get it to let you download the software. If you do not have that handy you can just type in 1111111111111 and click on Download. Popup blockers tend to block it so make sure you tell it to allow the download if you get a prompt. I just tested this and it allowed me to download another copy of the software.
You could just try to download it and bring it to your dealer and see if he will reinstall it from that file.

You have to remember, the EPA/ Harley consent decree only involved the United States, doesn't affect other parts of the world, and the SERT and SEPST tuners were sold world wide, so they still have to be supported. That software isn't going to go away.
Haven't used the H-D software, but some programs don't update, they delete the prior version, then install the new version, sometimes with a reboot or two in the process. A hangup in the install can leave you with no program, and you might not get an error message.
