Just finished a 2700 mile round trip to the Florida Keys, and only complaint was a sore bottom for me and the wife between fuel stops. No lower back problems, just sore butt.
Wanting to invest in an AirHawk for me and one for the passenger. Looking at the ROHO site, they list the Large Cruiser or Medium Cruiser for the Ultra rider, and the Medium Cruiser or Large Pillion for the Ultra passenger. I'm initially thinking the Large Cruiser would cover the lower back and bottom of the rider cushion while the Medium Cruiser would suit the passenger seating area just right.
Any comments on the correct sizes for an '07 Ultra rider and passenger would be greatly appreciated!
I have a pair of AirHawks that we use on long trips. THey make a HUGE difference on long trips. The main thing is that they allow air to circulate between the butt and the seat and that really cuts down on the irriatation that happens at the end of a long (500/600+) miles day.
I've had mine since 2001 and they are still as good as new.
Pricey, "but" [8D]well worth it.
regarding size.... I forget, but the rider unit is almost triangle shaped (large) and the passenger one is much smaller and rectangular shaped.
I've had mine for 2 or 3 years now. Cover it with a sheepskin cover just to hold it down and kinda hide it when parked. I only get antsy after about 8 or9 hours in the saddle now.
Heres a place that might save ya a few buck on one if you decide to pull the trigger.http://airhawkusa.com/mpc/docs/Site/Home.html
So, are these things air inflated? Meaning do I add the air I want, or do they come with the air in them? Also, what is the weight capacity on these things? I weigh 350ish lbs. I wouldn't want a blow out!!
They are great!! The back seat kept complaining about discomfort on long rides. Tried Zeppelin air seat, beads and gel pads. Nothing seemed to work for her until we tried the Airhawk. The airhawk solved the problem. We frequently do 12 - 18 hours in the saddle and no complaints. They are adjustable to each persons weight. You just inflate them so that they barely lift you off the seat, like half an inch. At first you think this will not work...but they work best with minimalair. I purchased the large rider and large passenger pillion.
There is an air valve that is hidden under the zipper in back. Open the valve and it will self inflate to more air then you will need. Sit on it and open the valve until you can feel your butt touching the seat. RTFM
If you are in doubt about the capacity, call the company. I'd be suprised if it wasn't rated for much more than that.
I bought mine on sale in the dead of winter from www.longdistancebiker.com.
I throw it on whenever I'm going out for more than an hour.
