Default Different lengths of shocks after modification

Hey, guys,

I was able to get this suspension for a very good price:
https://www.harley-davidson.com/stor...ridge-fork-kit

Shocks has been changed according the instructions.
The shock absorbers were fixed in the correct height/position in the fork clamp again.

Now the right shock (without cartridge) is longer than the left shock (with cartridge).
That's why I can't just push through the axle as it was before the conversion.

Of course I can compress the longer shock absorber and then push through the axle and assemble everything.

The question now is this normal on this kit?

Thanks already once for your support

When you say shocks, it seems you are referring to the front forks?

That said, it would seem you might have extra parts in the long side, or possibly in the wrong sequence or order? Totally guessing, but I would think the only way to be sure would be to completely disassemble the long side or maybe both forks, and ensure everything is correct by the install instructions and using the service manual.

Are the springs for both sides of that kit exactly the same? If not, is it possible you have the main springs in the opposite fork?

Good Luck. Maybe someone else has run into this exact situation and can offer you insight.

No. These are different and cant be swapped.
The diameter of the one spring is too much that dont fit to the cartridge.
You can see that the ends of the one spring is narrowed that the cartridge can hold this spring

Those are some fairly complicated installation instructions. You're absolutely 100% positive you assembled them correctly?

Yes 100%.

I found a thread here where someone sells this kit:
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...5500157-a.html

You can see photos of the parts in this thread.

If you put the parts for the right fork on top of each other , you will see that the parts for the right fork (spring, damper tube, spring collar) are longer in total than the cartridge with compressed spring in it. And the cartridge cant be longer because the spring is pressing inside. You understand what i mean?

So im asking if this is normal with this kit.

I understand, but I had to ask after seeing how complicated the installation is because I just rebuilt the front forks on my '14 Limited and that process was way more simple than your kit. I hope you find a solution.

How much "longer" is that Right side (without cartridge)?

Did you buy from this Classified AD?
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...l#&gid=1&pid=1

Was that Damper tube shorter than your existing Damper tubes?

So you installed the SHORTEST Damper Tube with a Rebound spring ("Top-out" spring)?

.

But you not rebuilt with the same kit like mine?

About 2-3 inches longer.

I bought this one:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/132438776502

But its the same like from the other thread here. And you can see that the spring, damper tube and spring collar are in total longer than the cartridge with spring included.

I installed it with the damper tube and the spring which both was in the kit. And on the top the old spring collar from my old system. Thats described in the instructions from Harley.

I didnt compared the length of the damper tube.
