Default Primary Case Drain Plug

The stock drain plug on the primary chain case of my '06 FLHTCI is a T30. Have you replaced that plug to something other than a T30 ... and what did you use and where did you find it?

Thanks

What year is your bike? Your setup must be different than mine. I know they removed one of the (two) covers on the primary case.

Why spend $11 bucks when you can get the HD version for under $5? I have a question, my primary plug "hole" on my 04 RKP is starting to strip. Has anybody tried a Time Sert or something similar? Have been using Teflon tape to keep it secure for the time being. However, I will have to fix the problem or get another outer primary cover.

About 10 minutes ago I read another thread about a guy with an issue with his oil drain plug. Another person posted up that he had used time serts on the oil pans of numerous cars that came into his dealership (forgot what car dealer he was a tech at) with stripped oil pan plugs and never had one leak...

So based totally on unsubstantiated, second hand info.... it's probably worth a shot trying a time sert prior to springing for a new primary cover.....

The issue I see is that there is not a lot of material around the small primary hole. Enlarging it may cause a short edge distant condition. The minimum (at least when I was building aircraft) is hole diameter x 1.5 to the edge. Have to get more intell on the Time Sert to see just how big the hole size would be. Thank you for your input on the subject.
