Haven't posted for a while. I just thought I'd give a quick SITREP and say my bike is going really well - problem free, and burning no oil at 42500 Kms on the clock.
Here's to many more thousand trouble free K's!
Did I mention - I love my FLHTK?!
62,148 miles and only one water pump. So I must agree.
When I said "problem free" I didn't count my water pump like maybe I should have since it also went bung like yours. It's just that I don't consider it part of the prime mover part of the engine ie pistons and bores,,,
Currently 28,000 miles on my 2015 RGS. Only issue was a part of the cruise control system needed a replacement. Covered under warranty. No oil consumption.
Its nice to hear of trouble free miles once in a while since we thread a lot about mechanical issues.
That is the nature of forums like this one. For every person who are experiencing trouble, many are not.
My 2014 FLHTK with about 25,000 miles, has experienced one issue (not counting the recalls that were without incident) that would be considered a break down. Splines on the shifter shaft went bad, $60 in parts, problem solved.

Oooh, forgot about that one. Lost my shifter on a lonely highway on a sunday in middle of south dakota. Glad I was able to find the parts and that I had duct tape, zip ties and string.
I think I've got you all beat 187,000 km.s (close to 120,000 miles) with basically a stock motor in a 99 Eglide. I have done intake, pipes cam and lifters, and replaced cam tensioners twice. Starting to use a little oil; 1/2 quart between changes. The only significant problem I've had was a poorly sealed ECM that ended up with 1/2 inch of water in it, but still worked once dried out. I have since converted to carb. I still really enjoy this bike and hope to ride it for may more years.
