Default how far until a break

Hello, when I ride my 17 RK (love it!) I can go 90 miles then, almost to the mile, have to get off for 5 min or so. Ive been doing leg exercises every day and has made a big difference. I cant seem to get any further. Im 63 if it matters, What say you?

Maybe force yourself to go a little farther each trip till you build up some stamina. Kinda like the whole thing of if you pick up a baby calf every day, in a year or so, you'll be able to pick up a cow.........

What is the reason why you have to stop? Sore back? But sweat? Just tired? Hand cramps? Each thing has a unique resolution. Some fixes are a seat mod. Some would be shocks. Some people have an issue with buffering. When I have no place to be, my wife and I love the stops. People watching, Having a beverage. But 90 minutes can be a 1.5 hours and 100 miles or 40 miles and slow moving. Ride often , ride safe.

When younger I've done many 800 mile plus days in the saddle but the older I get the loess enjoyable that is. I pull off the road every 75 to 100 miles weather I need to or not.

About 75 miles is my asses limit before I need to get some blood re-circulating. I have gone much further, but it stops being pleasureable, and goes straight to uncomfortable at about 75 miles.

The 6 gallon tank seems to spread my legs apart too far, starts hurting my hip joints. 5 min off the bike I have no pain. Im 6ft1"

i wonder if a narrower seat would help with that. Another thought is highway pegs, so you can change leg position.

Cool

:Yes I have the pegs, they help a little, I think its age. In 1973 I rode a Honda 450 from top of Pikes Peak Colorado to Wichita Kansas non stop except for fuel. Got home, took a shower, back on the bike. Wow what a difference 5 decades make

Look into things that can improve your comfort. New Seat, handle bar position, back rest. As another mentioned, foot pegs. Better underwear can help believe it or not. Find what makes you comfortable and you will get more distance between breaks. More time in the saddle definitely helps too.

Stopping for breaks never hurt, especially if your not in a hurry. Once you get everything set up for optimum comfort, you should be able to go until the tank is empty or your bladder is full, whichever comes first.

Good luck!

I'm turning 60 this year and the mods that make the biggest difference for me are, backrest, better handlebars, better seat and I still haven't picked up some highway pegs. I've been able to do 700 mile days with the comfort mods I've made.
