I had that code pop up many times over the last 20,000 miles. I never got a Check Engine light with the code. The bike has never run any differently or missed. I haven't had the code pop up in the last 4000 miles but I did have new plugs installed 4000 miles ago. I don't know if that could be the reason. I've only used HD parts and the bike is an ALL STOCK '14 FLHTK. When ever I asked my service advisor about the code, he would tell me it was a low priority code and not to be concerned with it, just clear it.
cleared the code ( 1356 rear cylinder no combustion ) changed the plug wires, plugs are recent, cel has not come back on after around 300 miles. I figured it wasnt a big deal since the bike ran great the whole time. Changed plug wires anyway since they were original. It does start quicker with the new wires.
I had an 04 Electra Glide and I would get that code at least once a month. It drove me nuts because in the 6 or 7 years I had the bike I checked everything I could think of never did figure out why it kept popping up. I have heard others say its a "phantom code" on certain year bikes. So after a while I just got used to resetting the code and ignoring it.
You took the words right out of my mouth (mind), and saved me a few keystrokes. 2004 FLHTI.
All I have a 2006 Electra Glide classic 9000 miles. This code means as I am sur most of you know no combustion on rear cylinder.. So I thinking what the hell is going on the bike is running great. Well what I found was that the rear spark plug wire there is not much give there as far as length to the plug. What was happening was the engine light would come on then it would go back off . Go for another ride ride same thing on then off.. I confirmed that what was happening is that the rear spark plug wire not having a lot of extra room to go on the plug it work its way up the plug . So you would get spark then no spark. Hence the code. With the motor running the plug wire would contact then it would not. So this made since. Got me a flashlight and a pair of pliers and shined the light inside of the plug wire and crimp the connector some. Do not over do it. Put it back on the plug it is now much tighter.. so we will see how it goes.. new plugs wires next spring.

Had the same issue on my 04 Ultra Classic, the P1356 code.
Fuel line in my gas tank developed a couple of small holes. If you search the forums, there are other people that have had this issue. That's how I was able to figure it out. You might want to replace your fuel filter while you're in there.
I had to replace the hose from the fuel pressure regulator to the supply fitting/check valve.
62228-03 check valve. fitting assembly w/o-ring & flex tubing
On my bike the flex tubing on this assembly is what had the holes from rubbing against the inside of the fuel tank. When I replaced the assembly, I cut off the old flex tubing and cut it open and wrapped it around the newly installed flex tubing to provide a sort of shield against future rubbing.
