So...I was out on an excellent ride this morning and I get a check engine light. Pulled the code and it’s P 1356 - rear cyl. No combustion. Bike ran great, no misfire, no stumble, no nothing. It did seem to take just a bit longer to start than normal. The cel does come and go, but it’s on more than it’s off. What does all this mean?
That can be a nuisance code or it can be real. There were several factory calibrations that were too sensitive with ION sense and would throw that code. That code can also be thrown if there is a true non-combustion event.
There were also calibrations on the original EFI tuner that would throw that code a lot - they were the ones with HTCC heads.
Can you provide a complete description of the bike, any and all engine or exhaust mods, etc.

it’s all stock, except for slightly free er flowing 2012 RK mufflers. 2004 Ultra. Spark plugs have a couple thousand miles on them. Plug wires are original and most likely need to be changed. No drive ability problems at all. Bike ran great all morning.
Since this is a new problem and the plugs were just changed, I would agree and change the plug wires first then monitor. If it still occurs let us know. Also make sure you didn't get anything such as anti-seize on the porcelain that would cause tracking down the plug.

I had an 04 Electra Glide and I would get that code at least once a month. It drove me nuts because in the 6 or 7 years I had the bike I checked everything I could think of never did figure out why it kept popping up. I have heard others say its a "phantom code" on certain year bikes. So after a while I just got used to resetting the code and ignoring it.
