I just put a new 2015 motor on my 2012 FLHTK. Crank runout problem. I had been reading a lot of article here on many topics. One of them is removing the catalytic converter from the stock pipes. I asked my Indy who did the work and he was not familiar with doing it.
Are there any real benefits to removing the Cat, any downsides. I have a set of new pipes and could give it a try on my originals with the fallback of the new pipes if all did not go well.
Does it keep the engine cooler when removed? I'm in Central Texas and it's getting hot here for the summer already.
Thanks to all who have helped me in the past. Hopefully I can return the favor to someone in the future!
The reduction in heat is nice but it also adds flow to the exhaust for higher HP and torque number possible (depending on what other mods are done) and it increases the volume of the exhaust note.
