Tires and mileage have no place in my book.
I want the best tire under me I can afford.
If I get 10K that's great!
The Avons have a good rep for milage, but not the reason i bought them.

The Elite III gave me 11000 miles, the best I ever got...it is a good all around tire, I still have not tried a 888 and might, I have had no real improvement over Elite III....I wish I could put the bigger tires like on the 09 an$ newer but alas...

Really? I hadn't considered this, and have always assumed engine braking preferable to wearing pads/rotors. How would engine braking affect tire differently than "conventional" braking?

I think with engine braking, it depends on the intensity of the braking.

I am not convinced. But I won't call BS either

The brakes are attached to the sprocket, same as belt, that is attached primary that is attached to engine. But I do realize they are not the same. So dunno.

I run RCII and they perform pretty well. I think just using the mileage as a criteria leaves out one critical factor, the type of road surface you ride on. Here in the Texas panhandle most roads, expect interstate highways, are resurfaced using chip and seal. Basically a layer of tar is applied then gravel is put over the tar. The gravel has sharp edges and equates to riding on a cheese grater and takes a year or two to smooth out. I've gotten less than 5K on a rear tire while riding very conservatively. Normally I get 8K-10K on a rear tire riding conservatively.
Remember there are only two seasons in Texas, winter and road construction.

How well do people really keep track? I know for a long time, I just replaced when worn, with sort of an idea. Now I got a spread sheet of everything.
