My bikes oil pressure was usually up around 40psi and held that on the road with it hovering around 8-10 at idle when hot. I changed the Syn3 at 5k to Mobil 1 and my hot pressure went to 32psi, but it's gotten alot warmer outside, but now its back up to 40psi. What is yours doing?
Your oil pressure is not low, the reading on the gauges reads low when hot at idle, but thats the norm since very many years ago. 5-10psi reading hot at idle is normal. If you have low oil pressure the red dash light will be on. Also forget what the service manual or other source may say, big twins take 4 qts with a filter.
I agree with gun runner. I have about 10-15 psi at hot idle using Mobil 1.
Nothing to worry about unless your oil light comes on. These engines use alot
of roller bearings and don't need much oil pressure.
My Hot idle is around 5psi and it used to go up to 30psi riding now it only goes up to 15psi I check my oil level each time I go riding and it is at the half way mark (cold) and on the full mark hot. I have syn3 in her. This low oil pressure of 15psiwhile riding only started recently. My hot idle of 5psi has always been that way from day one. The oil light does not come on(only when I first turn the run button then goes out when the engine starts. The dealer says its normal but who believes them.
