Back from auto zone. Battery tested at 94% charged. Not the problem. Hooked it up tried it a gain. Same results.
This time, heard a clicking sound coming from the starter, assumed it was the solenoid. Could that be why some things are not working?. Looks like I'll be replacing that real soon
Does your battery drop below 10V when you hit the start button?
Put your battery on a charger and once it’s fully charged find a store or garage that can do a load test.
2. watch the wall where your headlight is shining.
3. engage your starter motor.
A. If your engine doesn't turn over normally *and* your headlight doesn't dim, then the cause of your starter not doing it's thing is not primarily battery related. Look elsewhere.
B. If you headlight dims substantially and your starter doesn't crank your engine normally, then either your battery lacks sufficient cranking amps to start your engine, your starter is fried, or both.
This test costs no money and takes 30 seconds to perform.
I'm not trying to stear you awsy from your battery, I'm trying to get your diagnostics pointed in the right direction.
Check the main harness on the right side near the gooseneck
I had the same issues in my 2000 copglide...it turned out to be two broken main wires in the main harness that runs up the right side of the frame...just before it goes into the fairing ...Ill bet its in there...when your having the no start issue ..reach in there and poke around at that area of the harness...maybe youll find something...Good luck!!!
thanks for the ideas everybody. Been working working a bunch of hours this week so far, i will
try those ideas real soon.Seams strange, it started with blinks, horn, radio, get gas light flickering, now nothing with the starter. will here real soon.
Had the battery tested today. The shop charged it for 6 hrs. Load tested to 12.5 amps. So, bought new battery but, haven't
installed it yet, will do that tomorrow.
