Default First Harley, First Mods

Hey! Just recently purchased my first Harley. It's a 1999 Sinister Blue Ultra Classic with 57k miles. I have had the bike about 5 days now and i absolutely love it. It was a 30th birthday gift to myself. When I was 20 I owned sport bikes. Then upgraded to a Suzuki Boulevard and Yamaha Bolt(still own). But decided I needed a Harley by the time I was 30. It was a 1 owner bike and in great shape. I installed a 6" wave smoked windshield, fairing mount mirrors, and LED strobe taillights in the tour pack and rear lamp. I upgraded to Kenwood speakers and will be putting a new stereo in soon as well. My next purchase will be bars. I'm 6 foot and looking to retain the factory cabling so probably going to stick with a 12" set of apes. So far this forum has been awesome to check out. So many great ideas. Well, just figured I'd post some pics of the few little things I've done so far. I look forward to hearing/finding many other great ideas from you guys. Ride safe!

Before: 13\" clear windshield and long stem mirrors

After: 6\" wave smoked windshield with fairing mount mirrors.

Congrats on the new bike! Better clean and organize that garage now lol. Don’t want an avalanche overtaking your new ride!

Good luck with the mods you plan to do. Check around and find a service manual for it (the official HD one) and it’ll make life a whole lot easier when you start changing things out and working on it.

Besides a manual, pay close attention to cabling requirements on your new bars. I did 10" and had to buy a new clutch cable. Oh, and congrats on your new to you bike and welcome to the forum. I'm confident many here can assist you in spending your money.....

Congrats on the new bike! I would take a look at the shifter linkage. If it's original/stock, I would change it. Get a set of Heim joint ends and you will feel a great improvement, and you won't get broken down on the road. It's cheap and easy to do. Search on here and there are many threads about how to do this. Also I agree with Mr. Work, get a manual soon. Good luck with the new ride!

Yeah, thanks to the kids, the garage has become a disaster. Lol. The bike actually came with the service manual, so I lucked out there. Previous owner seemed to be a maintenance nut, which is awesome for me. Thanks for the tips. I'll definitely be looking into it all.
